Disruptive innovation in shopping: Amazon presented this week a small device, the Dash Button, that allows you to order any item directly from home, when you're short of stocks (from cookies to shampoo, from toasts to milk or orange juice...). The device incorporates a wi-fi controller connected to your smartphone through an specific Amazon app. The order to replenish is immediately sent to Amazon, and you'll receive the products at home in 24 hours.
If it works, it will be a true breakthrough in the customer experience, fueled by the easiness of use, the convenience of the device, and the invitation to trigger an impulsive and automatic replacement system.
Is the traditional concept of retailing threatened?
